New private members bill for domestic abuse leave
A Domestic Abuse (Safe Leave) Bill has been presented to Parliament and is aiming to create a right for employees who are victims of domestic abuse to have up to 10 days’ paid leave per year to support them to manage and deal with issues relating to domestic abuse or violence (such as finding alternative accommodation).
We are one of only a few law firms to have a domestic abuse policy on our Intelligent Employment platform to help explain how you can sensitively and confidentially support individuals who are experiencing these challenges.
Government consultation on compulsory ethnicity and disability pay reporting
The government intends to introduce compulsory ethnicity and disability pay reporting. This is likely to cover the same set of pay gap metrics used by the gender pay reporting regime, with the addition of:
- The overall breakdown of an organisation’s workforce by ethnicity and disability; and
- The percentage of employees who haven’t disclosed their personal data on their ethnicity and disability.
A consultation has been launched seeking views on how this should be implemented, so if you have 250 or more employees you can have your say here. The consultation closes on 10 June 2025.
